All You Need to Know About Sticker Application
The Best Ways to Apply a Sticker to a Vehicle (or anywhere else)
Applying a sticker to your vehicle can be a great way to express your personality, support your favorite team, your fire department, or advertise your business. However, it’s important to do it correctly to ensure the sticker adheres properly and lasts a long time. The first priority is a high quality sticker. A vinyl sticker with a good UV coating (like every sticker from BomberoDesigns.com) will last the longest on a vehicle.
Another good tip is to avoid applying the sticker to glass. Especially in a climate with drastic temperature changes like we have in southern Colorado, the sticker will expand and shrink and eventually start to curl on the edges. You can still put your sticker on the back window if you choose, just know that it will have its limitations.
Here are some steps to help you apply a sticker to your vehicle (or anywhere else):
1. Clean the Surface
Before you apply the sticker, make sure the surface of your vehicle is clean. Use a mild detergent and water to remove any dirt or grime. Dry the surface thoroughly with a clean, lint-free cloth.
2. Position the Sticker
Before removing the backing, position the sticker where you want it to go. You can use masking tape to hold it in place and ensure it’s straight.
3. Apply the Sticker
Peel off the backing and apply the sticker from one side to the other, smoothing it out as you go to avoid air bubbles. Use a credit card or similar object to press down on the sticker and ensure it adheres properly.
4. Remove the Transfer Tape
If your sticker came with transfer tape, slowly peel it off once the sticker is applied. Be careful not to lift the sticker off with the tape.
5. Care for Your Sticker
To keep your sticker looking great, avoid using high pressure washers on it and try not to park in direct sunlight for extended periods of time.
Remember, patience is key when applying a sticker to your vehicle. Take your time and follow these steps for the best results! Happy stickering!
